Australian Regulatory Summit

Thomson Reuters Governance, Risk and Compliance is pleased to announce the inaugural Australian Regulatory Summit to take place in Sydney on Wednesday May 1st.

Following the overwhelming success of the annual Pan-Asian Regulatory Summit Thomson Reuters Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) will be hosting a similar platform in Sydney in May 2013 to cater for the Australian financial services market. The primary goal of the Summit is to connect local and regional regulatory bodies to key financial services providers via a series of panel discussions and presentations, thus providing a platform for in-depth analysis and discussion relating to market reform and regulation and the subsequent challenges and issues that arise. The emphasis is very much on educational content giving senior professionals the knowledge they need to act while still focusing on business opportunities for growth. Sessions will be delivered by leading industry experts, with the ultimate directive of enhancing compliance, risk management and corporate governance culture across the region.

The Summit is expected to attract more than 150 senior delegates from compliance, risk management, audit and legal departments with representation from key regulatory bodies such as the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC), the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), New Zealand’s Financial Markets Authority (FMA) and The People’s Bank of China.

The Summit offers an innovative bridge between financial regulators and the financial services community. Key themes to be covered include:

  • Regulatory enforcement & supervision issues
  • The impact of extraterritorial regulation
  • Superannuation reform
  • Alternative trading platforms
  • Analytics in managing risk
  • The role of culture in behavior and conduct

This event is complimentary to attend however strictly by invitation only. Industry practitioners (ie law firms, consultants, recruitment firms etc) will be liable to charge.
