Thomson Reuters Governance, Risk & Compliance to Host Second Pan-Asian Regulatory Summit in Singapore

Benchmark forum for Asian regulators and governance, risk and compliance community to be held Sept. 28-29

Singapore, July 22, 2011 – Thomson Reuters Governance, Risk & Compliance (accelus.thomsonreuters.com) is pleased to announce its 2nd Pan-Asian Regulatory Summit will be held on Sept. 28-29, 2011, in Singapore at the Shangri-La Hotel.

The Pan-Asian Regulatory Summit is the only event in Asia to offer regional regulators the opportunity to discuss their approach, and for the financial compliance, risk, audit and regulatory community to come together and discuss issues critical to the region.

The summit will cover a number of topics including: Asia’s role in leading global financial regulatory reform; compliance sustainability; corporate governance accountability and integrated reporting; structural changes to stock exchanges; dark pool trading; algorithmic and high-frequency trading; Islamic banking; systemic risk in global markets; criminal enforcement and supervision; the role and future impact of credit ratings; and private banking regulatory reform and corruption risk, amongst others.

The keynote speaker will be Ravi Menon, managing director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore and former chair of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). The two-day conference will also feature speakers from regulators in Asia and elsewhere, including the Financial Services Authority UK, Bursa Malaysia, Dubai Financial Services Authority, Central Bank of the Philippines, Securities and Futures Commission Korea, Reserve Bank of India, Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Securities and Futures Commission Hong Kong, People’s Bank of China, Bank of Thailand and IMF.

Last year’s inaugural event attracted more than 300 senior compliance officers, anti-money laundering experts, risk professionals, regulators and government officials.

“The Pan-Asian Regulatory Summit allows regulators and compliance professionals to discuss vital issues including Asia’s role in global financial regulation, regulatory challenges and the counterbalancing between innovation and supervision,” says Leas Bachatene, Thomson Reuters Governance, Risk & Compliance vice president and managing director for Middle East, Africa and Asia. “We are pleased to bring the event to Singapore, one of the strongest financial hubs in the region.”

This year’s Exclusive Professional Legal Partner for the summit is Allen & Overy; the Exclusive Recruitment Partner is Barclay Simpson Asia Pacific; the Financial Institutional Partner is Standard Chartered Bank; the Leading Global Financial Institution Partner is BNP Paribas; and the Professional Training Partner is International Compliance Association. The 2nd Pan-Asian Regulatory Summit is in partnership with The Institute of Banking and Finance and Financial Industry Competency Standards and is also supported by YourSingapore.com and Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau.
